Interview with Marc Tillmann

DSC 2423 Marc Tillmann klein

P.R.: Mr. Tillmann many thanks for having your interest and willingness for this interview.

M.T.: I´m happy to do so. My name is Marc.

P.R.: I´m Phillip. Where do you come from, Marc?

M.T.: I come from Switzerland close to Bern.

P.R.: For which chess club do you play?

M.T.: I am a member of the clubs Zollikofen and Bümpliz.

P.R.: For both? How does it come?

M.T.: In swiss chess there formerly were two federations. Then we had a merging and a reorganisation. But the championships were retained.

P.R.: How do you judge the tournament and its organisation?

M.T.: I like the tournament, also because of its well placed venue. In addition to that I´d like to compliment the website of the WCCD.

P.R.: That´s pleasing to the ear. How are the World Championships going from your point of view so far?

M.T.: Could be worse.

P.R.: That doesn´t sound as if you were satisfied so far. How many points have you gained?

M.T.: Yes, that´s right I´m not pleased with my results having achieved 2 points out of 5 rounds. I´m not playing my best chess at the moment. This year does not go that well.

P.R.: Can you tell me what might be the reason for that?

M.T.: I really don´t know. Last year was very succesful for me. Perhaps it´s just the shape.

P.R.: Marc, how was your match today by the way?

M.T.: I won it - by scraping through.

P.R.: Congratulations! Can you say some words about the trend of that game?

M.T.: The start was a bit strange. My opponent did some remarkable strokes which put me of my stride in some way. But in the end all turned good.

P.R.: Did you manage to throw a glance on the historic center of Dresden beside the tournament?

M.T.: Yes, of course.

P.R.: Is it your first time here?

M.T.: Yes, it is my first visit. I´s a beautiful city.

P.R.: You are the only one coming from Switzerland. Are you traveling alone?

M.T.: My companion Nicolas Curien is with me. Normally we participate together in tournaments. Unfortunately, there´s no other tournament in addition to the WCCD. I´m so grateful that he accompanies me anyhow.

P.R.: What did you visit in Dresden and what did you like in particular?

M.T.: We made a sightseeing tour and visited among others the Zwinger. Moreover I was stoked for the architecture on the Neumarkt.

P.R.: How do you judge the infrastructure in and around the city beeing a wheelchair user?

M.T.: Very good! The trams are suitable for wheelchairs and the chauffeur is willing to help you instantly. Also the hotel meets my demands. So if I manage to win my game tomorrow I will be completely satisfied.

P.R.: I wish you great success in your following games and many thanks for this interview!

M.T.: Thank you, too. Ciao.

P.R.: Ciao.
